WHAT IS CBT?
(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
A FORM OF PSYCHOTHERAPY THAT INVOLVES THE FOLLOWING:
*Focus on the interplay between thoughts (cognitions), feelings, and behaviors.
*Learn to monitor and better understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
*Restructure cognitions and/or change faulty thinking patterns, so that you may feel better and act differently.
*Through exposure to anxiety-provoking situations, help your body and mind learn that these situations aren't actually dangerous, and thus decrease anxiety and panic.
*Skills training.
*Collaboration between patient and therapist.
*Structured, goal-oriented, brief, active, and directive approach.
*Research-based interventions.
